Why Radiate?

RADAR's Doing Seniority Differently research, supported by Lloyds Banking Group, found that many people are afraid to be open with their employer about a disability or health condition and employers are afraid to either employ disabled people or encourage them in their careers.

Many respondents to the research stated that they would welcome a network for senior or aspiring and talented people living with ill-health, injury or disability.

No general high-fliers network existed for people with disabilities or health conditions, although the Association of Disabled Professionals offers information and advice on all aspects of work as a disabled person and some sectors and employers have disability networks (though not generally for senior/aspiring leaders).

The new network aims to support and develop the talent pool of people with disabilities and health conditions and potentially act as a source of thinking for organisations on how ‘disabled talent’ is best spotted and developed.

It may be that members will also want to ‘put something back’ by supporting disabled people at an earlier stage in their career, for instance through mentoring.
